Mission of Research

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) is committed to empower and encourage distinctive multidisciplinary research in order to be one of the well-recognized university in the United Arab Emirates.

To achieve this, the Office of Research has been established to promote a “culture of applied research” among students and faculty members.

The mission of the Office of Research builds and enhances its national and international research capacity in key strategic areas in line with the UAE and AUE’s main research priorities for economic and social development that are set in the UAE 2021 Vision.

Strategic Goals

To be recognized as a leading teaching and research University in the United Arab Emirates, and promote an academic and intellectual ethos at AUE.
To provide full support to all faculty members at AUE to pursue high quality Research driven by knowledge acquisition, creation, sharing and knowledge transfer.
To recognize and encourage research excellence and publications with high impact factor in leading well recognized Journals and enhance the University ranking pertaining to research.
To offer research assistance to students through a research clinic and seminars on technical knowhow of research and to encourage entrepreneurial culture among AUE graduate and undergraduate students.
To expand the research cooperation and support from institutions and relevant industries while engaging alumni for soliciting the funds.

Objectives and Initiatives in Research

AUE Research Strategic goals is to empower and encourage the culture of research excellence focusing on challenges of economic and social development of the United Arab Emirates. In line with this, ORA provides adequate support for faculty participation in scientific conferences, publications, internal research grants and professional development activities.

AUE faculty members are expected to be productive in all three areas of intellectual contributions:

Basic or discovery scholarship; (2) applied or integration/application scholarship; and (3) teaching and learning scholarship. Although AUE still places strong emphasis on teaching and learning, emphases in all the three areas of intellectual contributions are critical to the success of AUE as research-led institution.

Initiatives

Have strong impact on peers and students through publishing books, case studies, articles, as well as peer-reviewed journal publications and conference paper presentations.

Enhance national and regional experiential learning opportunities for our students.

Increase professional development opportunities for AUE faculty and allow for maintenance of their professional qualification.

Enhance the use of educational technologies in the classrooms, including specialized software applications and innovative teaching pedagogy.

Promote and enhance the quality of research and creative work that supports the college and the university’s missions.
